At the point of “I’m Jumping In to My Business FULL Force…”
I found out that I was 4 months pregnant with my Ava girl. It was beautiful and equally terrifying all at the same time. We were having a 3rd little one at a time when we thought we were ‘done’. Not to mention I was fresh out of Esthetics school…no job…no prospects…and most certainly no clients! I was at a point where I had no idea if I was gonna make it as an Esthetician, but I had already dropped a chunk of change down on a location that I thought would be my own. When that didn’t pan out..I was devastated.
So why am I sharing this with you? I share it because I need you to understand that I was once at a place of nothing…and I stepped out on faith and turned it into almost $10k a month in under 3 years. With the last 12 months being my absolute best so far. ( although this year I’ve already brought in what I did all last year #GoalDigger
I know Crazy right? You were probably thinking something like my website, or social media? Don’t get me wrong those things are definitely a part of it. But honestly, it was my Faith in my Creator, Marketing with Deal Sites (Groupon & Living Social) and the Confidence to know that I was good at serving others and this was where I was supposed to be.
Now you may or may not be a stylist that believe in Faith or God even…but I will tell you that I say this as #1 because praying was all I could do in some situations where it looked like nothing was working for me. It was me saying ” you know what…I’m here, I’ve got this far…and I’m gonna let you take over” sometimes it was ALL I could do.
Deal Sites then allowed me to spread the word about what I offered and gave me visibility and exposure to shine! I was desperate to make money…but I knew I wasn’t going to be ‘making money’ with deal sites. But I understood that they were a vehicle to help me get to the ‘making money’ part. So I served them as if they were full retail paying clients, and I in turn kept over 60% of them.
The confidence came after I began to see those same clients more frequently and they began telling others. I studied sales cycles and human relations some and understood that I wanted to provide the best possible experience for my clients. I simply treated them how I wanted to be treated as a client or customer. I am professional, on time, and treat my clients like without them I am nothing. Only because clients are the life line of our business. They should feel like that every time they come and when they leave. Never like we’re doing them a favor.

I always like to say that one hair or stroke can make or break a set of brows. Without believing this truth...you may find that this field isn't for you.
Next are you ready for the business side of things? If you're considering striking it out on your own, you better be ready to wear 10 different hats...and juggle them in the air. You have to be the artist, the janitor, the marketer, the accountant, the legal, the designer, and then some. Running any business alone is never easy, but running a beauty business poses its own set of challenges. Not only do you have to be an artist you have to be a whip at getting new clients to you. And unfortunately many microblading trainers out there today have no idea how to do this. They may be amazing brow artists and instructors...but have no clue beyond Facebook and business cards to grow your new business. So you are then in a position of having a beautiful new skill you wanna share with the world...but no one to share it with.
So by now you may be over the moon excited to get started...or having second thoughts. Both of which are totally normal. But if you're having second thoughts, maybe sit down and take inventory on what is creating the doubt. Is it the investment in training, or the business side of it all?
